Complete a full year of intensive language study in ten weeks!
Course Dates: June 12 - August 18, 2017
The Department of Asian Languages & Literatures offers intensive, ten-week summer programs in Arabic, Chinese, Korean, and Japanese. Our summer courses are open to both University of Minnesota students and non-UMN students. In our summer program, students cover two semesters of language training. Three hours of instruction for five days a week are supplemented by rich cultural programming.
Why Study Asian Languages in Minnesota?
Our Asian Language programs are established and vibrant. They have developed a strong reputation for delivering high-level instruction that empowers students to become effective, confident users of the language of instruction.
Our summer programs take place at the University of Minnesota campus in the heart of the vibrant Twin Cities. The metropolitan area of Minneapolis-St. Paul is home to a large number of immigrant communities. You will find native speakers of your Asian language within and beyond the university community, and a rich variety of activities and events to enjoy on campus and in the metropolis.
Registration opens on April 11 for current University of Minnesota students, and on April 18 for non-UMN students. UMN students register for summer in the same manner they register for any other semester.
Non-UMN students register as "non-degree seeking students," who may register for summer courses as long as they meet the pre-requisites and there are seats available. Non-degree seeking students are not typically eligible for financial aid. To learn more about registering as a non-degree seeking student, please refer to the dedicated One Stop page.
